Purchased a 5GH/s miner in August, received it in November. Miner hashed at 1.5GH/s. Requested an RMA to replace the miner. RMA was accepted. I shipped it back, received a package 1 week later. No miner, just a power supply. So now I have a power supply for a $300 miner, still can't mine. Some bullshit man. edit: Yes, I was aware of the many terrible experiences people have had with them, and even the theory that they mine with the machines themselves before sending them out, at the time of my purchase. I made the purchase with money to blow, even in the event that by the time I had expected to receive the miner (april 2014) it would be unprofitable, I wouldn't feel that bad. I'm just complaining here because of how absurd this service is. Blows my mind.
BFL Deleted This From Their Forums, I Figure That Makes It Worth Reading.
In response to a complaint by BFL_Josh about how he can't quite wrap his head around why people are mad about the preorder situation I posted my imagining of a conversation between BFL and their customers. The post was civil, and broke none of the rules of the forum, but it was deleted nonetheless. Fortunately, I had copied it elsewhere already. Figured you all might get a chuckle out of it - apparently someone at BFL didn't find it amusing. BFL: "Hey guys, we're selling these rad miners! They'll be out in a few months, so order today!!" Customers: "Hooray for rad miners! Here, take my money!" BFL: "Thanks for the money! Hey, bt dubs, we were wrong; it's gonna be a few more months before we ship anything." Customers: "That's OK, stuff happens." BFL: "I'm glad you feel that way because it happened again; it'll be 2013 before you get your product." Customers: "Well that's kind of a raw deal, but we've waited this long, so I guess we'll stick it out." BFL:"Hey guys, I know this is a bummer, but you're gonna have to wait a little longer. You should have your stuff by April though!" Customers: "Seriously? Well as long as the difficulty doesn't spike I gues I could wait...." BFL: "Did I say April? I meant July. You'll have your miners in July." Customers: "Oh come on now, this is getting silly." BFL: "Did I say July? I meant August." Customers: "Well then why did you say July?" BFL: "I ACTUALLY meant September; sorry 'bout that." Customers: "You monster! Stop lying to me!!" BFL: "Did I say September I meant..." Customers: "SHUT UP JUST SHUT UP RIGHT NOW YOU FILTHY THIEF YOU STOLE MY MONEY!! SHIP MY PRODUCT OR GIVE ME A REFUND" BFL: "Refunds? Nah, that's not happening. All sales are final." Customers: "But you haven't sold us anything; you just took our money and then left us hanging for over a year! How do you sleep at night???" BFL: "On a really nice bed! Wanna buy our new product? It'll start shipping in a couple of months!"
$14,000,000.00+ in Avalon chips missing, and you thought BFL was bad?
Avalon is currently over a month late in shipping over $14 Million dollars in Avalon asic chips to group buys on Bitcointalk: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=264098.0 This could quite possibly be the biggest Bitcoin theft in History. If anyone can contact Yifu Guo of Avalon for chip status/confirmation that they will ship, please do. They have ignored all contact emails and phone calls for over a month.
My ill-advised order of 2x 7 GH/s BFL miners from last spring finally arrived. I knew there was no chance of recovering the 7 BTC I paid for them, but I figured I'd at least recoup the $700 that was at the time. They trickled out about 0.043 BTC over the past four days, and then one of them up and died. Power supply, I'm guessing, but there's no point in trying to get it fixed. The difficulty will be 100x higher by the time they respond to my email. What a great company.
How to file a FTC complaint against BFL's illegal business practices
Many of you are stuck in a position where Butterfly Labs has still not delivered their products to you and are refusing you a refund. This is illegal in the United States under basic sales contract law. You do not need an actual physical "paper" contract to be entitled to these protections. The protections are automatic when a sale is made. As I tried to explain this to Josh I was met with nothing but grade school insults. You can view the conversation starting at this post if you so wish: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=278844.msg3418806#msg3418806 Anyways, there is something you can do today that will help put an end to BFL's illegal business practices. If you have an order from BFL and you have been refused a refund you may file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. This is actually very easy. Go to the following site: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#&panel1-1 On the right hand side of the screen, select "Internet Services, Online Shopping, or Computers". For the subcategory, select "Online Shopping". You will see the following options: I received merchandise late. I never received merchandise. I was not notified about a late shipment. I did not receive a prompt refund. I never received a correct refund. Other Check all that apply, and continue to the next page. It will now ask you for details about when you requested your refund. Fill in the information on when you sent your email requesting a refund, the dates, and who responded (if you got a response at all). Now continue to the next page. It will ask you for details about the company. Here they are: Address: 10770 El Monte Leawood, KS 66211 Phone: 1-800-809-MINE (6463) Now continue to the next page. It will ask you for your contact information. This is optional but I recommend filling it out so that they can call you to get more information so they can move forward on taking action against BFL. However, even if you don't fill out your contact information you will be doing a great service since if enough people file one they will definitely open an investigation of the company. Now continue to the last page. This is simply a comments box. Type all of the relevant information about your experience. Additional information will help them greatly in their investigation into BFL's business practices and how they are violating consumer protection laws regarding refunds and late deliveries. That is all. Go to the next page and it will review your complaint and you can submit it. The whole process takes less than 10 minutes.
I'm thinking of starting a class action suit with only current order holders of BFL products and may even order a few Monarchs just for living proof during the process. Anyone interested or know a few good lawyers? Estimates of orders are well over $10 mil.
I ordered 3 singles in March of 13 and was called and told verbally that July 31st would be the latest. I am very concerned know that I see this horrible cycle happening in very ponzi like actions happening by BFL. Stringing more carrots and showing returns on the low end but never actually liquid enough to supply even refunds. I didn't buy this mining rig as a stock in a company, I bought it based on facts that I was told I would have it by July 31st of 13. Anyone interested?

BFL Butterfly Lab just released its news earlier today, indicating that they started shipping BFL Monard Bitcoin miner using a lot less power than any other Bitcoin miner out there. 700GH/s appears to be using about 480watts which is pretty good, but other newer miners released lately don’t do bad either, especially with the October batch of the Spoontech.
